The Origin Intelligence Desk is a free, public knowledge platform for buyers sourcing commodities from Indonesia. It is written by a trading house that works at origin, not a content operation writing from a distance. What you read here is the reference we wish had existed when we started: the documents, the rules, the regions, and the markets, set out plainly so you can act on them.

It serves green coffee buyers, importers, and roasters, and buyers of Indonesian cocoa, and it widens to other Indonesian commodities as it grows. If you buy Indonesian coffee or cocoa, this is for you now. If you buy something else from Indonesia, this is being built for you next.

How it is organised

The desk has two kinds of section. There are commodity sections, one for each thing we trade. Coffee is covered in the most depth: the origins, the grades, the processing, the certifications, the logistics, the harvest calendar, the price data, and a set of practical buyer guides. Cocoa is the second, covering cocoa powder and cocoa butter, how a specification reads, and where the EU deforestation rules land on processed cocoa.

Then there are cross commodity sections that apply across everything we trade: the regulatory rules and documents, the destination markets, and the producing provinces. It began with coffee and expands from there.
